Smothered Turkey Wings
Ingredients
  • 4 to 5 lbs fresh turkey wings, thawed if previously frozen
  • 1 tbsp salt, plus more to taste
  • 1 tbsp black pepper, plus more to taste
  • 1 tbsp garlic powder
  • 2 tbsp paprika or smoked paprika, divided
  • 2 tbsp canola oil or other neutral cooking oil
  • 1 stick of butter (½ cup)
  • 2 large yellow onions, sliced thin
  • 8 cloves garlic, chopped
  • ½ tsp crushed red pepper flakes, or to taste
  • ⅓ cup all-purpose flour
  • 6 to 8 cups chicken or turkey stock, preferably homemade, warmed
  • 2 bay leaves
  • Zest and juice of 1 lemon
  • ¼ cup finely chopped parsley
