Ingredients
  • subheading: ½ cup each of:
  • Red beans, black beans,
  • pinto beans, lentils,
  • baby limas, split peas,
  • navy beans, blackeyed peas,
  • Barley (optional)
  • 1 can  garbanzo beans.

  • 6 cups 15 bean dry bean mix (we use this)
  • 1 ½ Tbsp. salt
  • 3 bay leaves
  • 3 quarts water
  • 1 ham hock, meaty ham bone, or 1 lb. ham pieces
  • 1 quart tomatoes (2 [14.5 oz.] cans diced) (I used no-salt ones)
  • 2 medium chopped onions
  • 2 garlic cloves, chopped or minced
  • 6 stalks chopped celery
  • 1 large bell pepper chopped
  • 1 lb. sliced smoked sausage (See Note*)
  • 4 chicken breast or thighs (Didn’t use, It didn’t need this).
