Ingredients
  • 1 pounds red beans cleaned and washed
  • 1 large yellow onion diced
  • 5 cloves garlic minced or pressed
  • 2 stalks celery diced
  • 1 bunch flat leaf parsley chopped - remove stems
  • 1 ham hock or 5 slices bacon chopped
  • ⅓ cup brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons dried basil
  • 1 tablespoons ground black pepper
  • 2 bay leaves
  • 2 dashes Tabasco sauce or to taste. add at the end
  • subheading: water:
  • 2 teaspoons salt to taste
  • 2 cups uncooked rice cook according to package directions
