Buttermilk Wheat Bread
Have used whole wheat, sprouted wheat, etc. Gives heavier texture to loaf. Doubled yeast on first try because yeast was older.
Ingredients
  • 1 package active dry yeast ¼ ounce
  • 3 tablespoons honey divided
  • ½ cup water
  • 1 cup buttermilk at room temperature
  • ¼ cup vegetable oil
  • 1 egg at room temperature
  • 1 ¾ cups white whole wheat flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ⅛ teaspoon baking powder
  • 2 ¼ to 2 ¾ cups bread flour
