Just Potatoes!
Ingredients
  • 3.5 pounds / 1.5 kg potatoes
  • 1 clove garlic
  • 2 tbsp melted unsalted butter
  • 2 cups/470 ml heavy cream
  • ½ cup/60g grated Parmesan or Gruyère
  • Salt and black pepper
  • Thyme
  • Nutmeg
Steps
  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F / 200°C
  2. Slice potatoes and put them in a big ovenproof pan (10 inch/25cm). Sprinkle salt, pepper, thyme, nutmeg and garlic as you layer the potatoes.
  3. Pour melted butter on top or and pour in heavy cream
  4. Heat it on the stove until it boils, then simmer for 10 minutes (uncovered) until cream reduces by about half.
  5. Move the pan to the oven and bake for 10 minutes until the top is golden brown.
  6. Lower the oven temperature to 300°F/ 150°C degrees and cook for another 15 to 20 minutes until the potatoes are tender and the top is brown.
  7. Sprinkle grated cheese on top and bake/broil for an extra 3 minutes until the cheese is melted and golden.
  8. Enjoy your cheesy baked potatoes!
