Ham and Cheddar Stuffed Soft Pretzels
Ingredients

  • 1 cup lukewarm milk
  • ½ cup hot water not boiling, just hot
  • 4 cups high-gluten flour 1 pound 1 ounce, by weight, or bread flour
  • 1 tablespoon malt powder or granulated sugar
  • 1 ¼ teaspoons kosher salt
  • 2 ¼ teaspoons instant yeast

  • 2 quarts water
  • ¼ cup baking soda

  • 1 ½ cups diced ham I like to use country ham or a Virginia style baked ham for this.
  • 1 ½ cups diced Cheddar cheese We prefer extra sharp, but use your favorite.

  • 1 egg beaten
  • Coarse sea salt kosher salt or pretzel salt
