Mom's Best Pie Crust
Ingredients
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour - measured by pouring not scooping - plus more for rolling
  • 1 Tablespoon sugar
  • ¼ cup unsalted butter - cut into small pieces - cold
  • ½ cup shortening - cut into small pieces - cold
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 4 to 5 Tablespoons ice water

  • 2 ⅔ cups all-purpose flour - measured by pouring not scooping - plus more for rolling
  • 4 tsp. sugar
  • ⅓ cup unsalted butter - cut into small pieces - cold
  • ⅔ cup shortening - cut into small pieces - cold
  • 1 teaspoon. salt
  • 6 to 8 Tablespoons ice water
  • For savory pies, omit sugar.
