Healthy Bechamel Sauce

Servings: 1 Litre

Ingredients
  • 700 mls low-fat milk
  • 3 ½ tbsp cornflour
  • 2 bay leaves
  • Pinch of ground nutmeg
  • Salt, to taste
  • Black pepper, to taste
  • 50g parmesan cheese, grated
Steps
  1. Mix 200mls of the milk with the cornflour in a medium saucepan until smooth.
  2. Stir in the remaining milk, bay leaves and nutmeg and season with salt and pepper.
  3. Place on stove and use a wooden spoon to stir the sauce constantly over medium-high heat until thickened. Do not let come to the boil.
