Granny Bill’s Pound Cake
Ingredients
  • ½ cup (2 sticks) butter
  • 3 cups sugar
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • ½ cup vegetable shortening
  • 5 eggs
  • ⅔ cup milk
  • 1 cup chopped pecans, optional
Steps
  1. Preheat oven at 350°.
  2. Cream together butter and shortening. Add sugar, 1 cup at a time. Mix in eggs, one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Sift flour. Stir in dry ingredients, alternatively with milk; beginning and ending with dry ingredients. Bake for 1 hour and twenty minutes at 350°.
Notes
  • For cupcakes bake 15 minutes at 350°.
