Ingredients
  • 1½ tsp (¼ oz.) yeast
  • ½ cup warm water
  •  
  • 2 cups warm water
  • 2 cups flour
  • 1 tbsp. Honey
Steps
  1. In medium bowl put 1st amount of water and yeast and allow to set for 10 minutes. Stir to dissolve
  2. Then add final 3 ingredients. Beat until smooth. Cover with cheesecloth. Let stand at room temperature for several days, stirring 2 to 3 times a day. When starter is ready, starter should have a sour smell with small bubbles gently rising to the surface.
  3. The process will take from 5 to 10 days..
  4. Turn into jar, cover and refrigerate.
  5. To replenish: For each 1 cup used; add ¾ cup flour
  6. ¾ cups water
  7. 1 tsp of honey
  8. Stir well and cover loosely. Let stand at room temperature until bubbly.. Possibly 1 day. Refrigerate.

Notes
  • TO FEED STARTER: If starter isn’t used on a regular basis, stir in 1 tsp. Honey every 10 days.
