  • 1 teaspoon fresh ground black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons neutral flavored oil
  • 1 medium onion, peeled and chopped small
  • 4 cloves garlic, peeled and minced
  • 2 tablespoons tomato paste

  • 2 teaspoons ground cumin
  • 1 cup water
  • 3 tablespoons apple cider vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon fish sauce or 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
