“Dumpling” Meatballs with Sesame Green Beans
Ingredients

  • 1 teaspoon Chinese Five-Spice
  • 1-inch piece fresh ginger, peeled and finely minced
  • 8 scallions, white and light green parts only, finely minced
  • ⅓ cup cilantro, chopped
  • 2 tablespoons hoisin
  • 1 egg, whisked
  • ¼ cup potato starch (or breadcrumbs)
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • cooking spray (optional)
  • 1 head Bibb lettuce, leaves separated neatly
  • subheading: Dipping/Drizzling Sauce:
  • ¼ cup soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons rice wine vinegar
  • squeeze of lime
  • subheading: Sesame Beans:
  • 1 clove garlic, halved
  • 2 tablespoon olive oil
  • 2 teaspoons sesame oil
  • shake red pepper flakes
  • 1 large bunch (about 12 ounces) haricots verts or green beans
  • salt and pepper
  • handful sesame seeds, black or white or both
