Swamp Soup (Turnip Green)

Ingredients
  • 1lb of Hickory Smoked Conecuh Sausage
  • 1 diced onion
  • 4 cans or 2 big cans of Seasoned Turnip greens (glory brand etc)
  • Can of black eye peas
  • can of navy beans (drained)
  • can of fire roasted rotel (I used regular rotel then a can of fire roasted regular)
  • garlic
  • 32 oz of chicken broth (or 4 cups of better than bullion chicken)
  • 1 cup of better than bullion Vegetable base
  • black pepper
  • garlic powder
  • onion powder
Steps
  1. Brown sausage in big pot
  2. once browned add diced onion
  3. Once onion is cooked add minced garlic (to your liking)
  4. add turnip greens
  5. add black eye peas
  6. add fiesta corn
  7. add can of navy beans
  8. add chicken and veggie broth
  9. add black pepper, onion powder and garlic powder to your taste
  10. Bring to a boil then cut back and let it simmer for one hour
  11. serve after an hour

  • goes great with corn bread
