Beginner Sourdough Starter

  • 60 g (½ cup) whole wheat flour
  • 60 g (¼ cup) water
  • subheading: To feed the starter each day (Day 3 to 7):
  • 60 g (½ cup) unbleached all purpose flour or bread flour
  • 60 g (¼ cup) water

  • note: NOTE: Use regular, unbleached all purpose flour or bread flour for best results- skip organic. The enzymes are different which can hinder the rising process the first time around. I use either KAF, Trader Joe’s or Whole Foods. Filtered water or tap water is fine. Use the latter if you know it’s mostly chemical/chlorine free.
