- 2 cups water
- 1 small to medium tomato ~75 to 85 g, finely chopped
- 1 ⅛ tsp salt or to taste
- ½ tsp coriander powder
- ¼ tsp turmeric powder
- ¼ tsp cumin powder
- ¼ tsp red chili powder or more to taste
- ⅛ tsp ground black pepper

- 2 tbsp ghee or sub butter
- 1 tbsp oil
- 1 tsp cumin seeds
- 1 small or ½ medium (~100g) onion thinly sliced
- 3 garlic cloves crushed
- 1 small green chili pepper (or sub whole red chili pepper) chopped
