  • 1 ¼ cups boiling water
  • ½ cup butter or ½ cup margarine
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 ½ cups flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ¾ teaspoon cinnamon
  • ¼ teaspoon nutmeg
  • subheading: TOPPING-:
  • ¼ cup butter or ¼ cup margarine, melted
  • ½ cup brown sugar
  • 3 tablespoons cream or 3 tablespoons milk
  • ¾ cup flaked coconut
  • ⅓ cup chopped nuts (optional)
