Ingredients
  • Cubed Steak
  • Unflavored Whey Protein Powder
  • Salt
  • Pepper
  • Garlic powder
  • smoked paprika
  • Trader Joe's Everything Seasoning
  • Olive Oil for frying

  • subheading: Sausage gravy:
  • 12 ounces ground pork breakfast sausage
  • 1 teaspoon xanthan gum
  • 1 ½ cups chicken broth
  • ½ teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • ¼ teaspoon salt, to taste
  • ½ cup half and half
Steps
  1. • Dip your cubed steak in egg wash then dredge in your seasoned protein powder.
  2. • Fry several minutes on each side until your meat is cooked and the batter is crispy.
  3. • Top with gravy before serving. I used Campbell's sausage gravy in a can, (3 carbs per ¼ cup) but you can easily make your own with cooked breakfast sausage crumbles, butter, cream, xanthan gum, salt and pepper.
  4. subheading: Sausage Gravy:
  5. In a large skillet brown the sausage over medium heat.
  6. Remove the sausage to a paper towel-lined plate to drain the excess grease, reserving about a tablespoon of fat in the skillet.
  7. Turn the heat to medium-low and sprinkle 1 teaspoon of xanthan gum into the grease, whisking constantly.
  8. Cook the xanthan gum for about a minute until lightly browned.
  9. Whisk in the chicken stock, onion powder and black pepper. Bring to a simmer and allow the gravy to thicken about 5 minutes. Taste at this time and add salt if needed.
  10. Whisk in the half and half and continue to simmer until the gravy is thick and creamy, about another 3 minutes.
  11. Stir the cooked sausage into the gravy and remove from the heat.
