Instant Pot Mongolian Beef
Ingredients
  • subheading: Measuring cup used, 1 cup = 250 ml, 1 tsp = 5 ml:
  • 1.5 lbs flank steak, sliced across the grain into ¼ inch thin strips
  • 1 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 2 tbsp minced garlic
  • 1 tbsp minced ginger
  • ½ cup less sodium soy sauce
  • ½ cup light/dark brown sugar
  • 2 tbsp hoisin sauce
  • 2 tbsp rice wine vinegar
  • ½ tsp red pepper flakes, optional
  • ¼ tsp ground black pepper
  • 1 cup beef stock or 1cup water + 1 tsp better than bouillon beef base, divided
  • ½ tsp sesame oil
  • subheading: To thicken the sauce:
  • 2 tbsp cornstarch mixed with ¼ cup cold water
  • subheading: For garnishing:
  • 2 to 3 stalks scallion greens, cut diagonally
  • ½ tbsp toasted sesame seeds, optional
