Pie Hole Custard Pie

Servings: One 8" pie.

Servings: One 8" pie.
Ingredients
  • 4 eggs, slightly beaten
  • ½ c. sugar
  • ¼ tsp. salt
  • ½ tsp. vanilla
  • 2½ c. milk, scalded
  • nutmeg
Steps
  1. Blend eggs, sugar, salt and vanilla together. Gradually stir in scalded milk. Pour mixture into an unbaked pie shell then sprinkle with nutmeg.
  2. Back at 350f for 35 minutes or until knife inserted halfway between center and edge comes out clean.
Notes
  • For coconut custard pie, omit nutmeg and sprinkle with shredded coconut on top. Bake as above.
  • For maple custard pie, pour ¼ c. maple syrup half way through baking.
