  • ¾ cup butter or margarine, unsalted preferred
  • ⅔ cup water
  • 1 ⅓ cups sugar
  • 7 large eggs
  • ¼ cup liqueur (optional)
  • ½ teaspoon salt (omit if using salted margarine or butter)
