Brown Basmati/White Rice Instant Pot
Ingredients
  • Clare Stoner I use brown basmati rice. 1 cup rice ( rinsed in sieve ),1 cup water or stock, ¼ cup soy sauce, 1 onion, 2 garlic cloves garlic crushed, 1 egg beaten, 1 cup peas. Chop onion finely, put couple tbsp oil in pot and put on sauté, don't wait for it to heat up just throw onions in, stir occasionally until soft, add crushed garlic stir 1 min, add rice stir for 2 mins, add egg and mix fast and well so it doesn't clump and it coats everything, add soy sauce and quick mix in, add peas and quick stir, add stock and quick stir. Cancel sauté function, put on lid, manual high not rice function and adjust time to 23mins. If using white rice pressure time reduced to 5 mins. Quick release and good stir. I like mine a little al dente but if you prefer your rice a little softer then replace lid and just let it sit on keep warm function for 5 to 10 mins depending on how you like it. This should be enough as side portion for 4 people. You can bulk make it by doubling quantity, but don't increase the cook time. Stores well in fridge if you have left overs.
