Traditional Korean Rice Liquor (Makgeolli) Recipe by Maangchi

  • 5 cups short grain rice, washed and soaked in cold water for at least 2 hours
  • 1½ cups nuruk (starter culture)
  • 1 package of dry yeast
  • 5 quarts of water (20 cups)
  • ¼ cup sugar (optional)
