Ingredients
  • 1 cup split yellow mung dahl beans (see “Weak Digestion” on the next page)
  • 1 cup white basmati rice
  • 8 cups of water (or homemade sodium-free vegetable broth, recipe page 145)
  • 1 Tbsp ginger, freshly grated
  • ½ tsp turmeric powder (or 1 tsp freshly grated)
  • ½ tsp coriander powder (or 1 tsp seeds)
  • ½ tsp cumin powder (or 1 tsp seeds)
  • ½ tsp whole cumin seeds (or ¼ tsp powdered)
  • ½ tsp brown or yellow mustard seeds
  • 1 pinch hing, also called asafoetida (optional)
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 1 small handful cilantro leaves, freshly chopped
