My mother-in-law received this hand-typed recipe from Nancy Hoch of Fair Oaks, CA. I have no idea how the two women knew each other. Mrs. Hoch was an an author; in 2006, she wrote "Travelling With Grandkids" and "Saying Hello; Waving Goodbye."

Ingredients
  • 1½ c. peanut butter
  • ¾ c. unsalted butter (room temperature)
  • ¾ c. shortening
  • 3 c. brown sugar
  • 3 eggs
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 3 c. whole wheat flour
  • 1 tsp. baking powder
  • 3 c. rolled oats
Steps
  1. Preheat oven to 350° F.
  2. Cream together peanut butter, butter, shortening & sugar.
  3. Stir eggs & vanilla into batter; then stir in flour, baking powder, & oats.
  4. Form dough into 1-in. balls & place on cookie sheet.
  5. Bake for 14-min.
