  • 1 ½ cups yellow cornmeal
  • 1 ⅓ cups all-purpose flour
  • ⅓ cup packed brown sugar
  • 2 tsp. baking powder
  • ½ tsp. baking soda
  • 1 tsp. dried thyme
  • 1 tsp. dried rosemary
  • ½ tsp. Lawry's seasoned salt
  • 1 ½ cups buttermilk or sour milk
  • ¾ cup canned creamed corn
  • 3 large eggs
  • ½ cup butter melted, slightly cooled
  • ¼ cup honey
  • 1 cup coarsely chopped roasted shelled chestnuts I used Galil brand found at Sam's Club or Amazon
  • 1 cup chopped dates
  • ½ cup chopped pecans
