Amish Raisin Cookies

  • Lynette Harden I have a recipe that's been handed down in my husband's family. For shortening it calls for lard that may be what makes the cookie white. 2- cup sugar 1- cup lard 2 teas. vanilla 2 eggs. 1- cup buttermilk Cream lard and sugar, add eggs , vanilla mix add buttermilk. Dry ingredients 2 teas. Baking powder 2 teas. Baking soda, 5 cups flour stir together and add to wet mixture. Filling 1 -cup raisins. ½- cup sugar. ½- cup water. Cook til raisins are plump let cool, roll out dough and fill with raisins bake at 375
