Ingredients
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour-(3 C )
  • ¼ teaspoon baking soda (½ tsp)
  • ¼ teaspoon salt (½ tsp )
  • ½ cup butter, softened (1C )
  • ¾ cup granulated sugar, divided (1 ½C ) use 1 cup when mixing with butter. ½ cup with dates.
  • ½ cup light brown sugar (1C )
  • 1 egg (2 )
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract (2 )
  • 8 ounces fresh dates, chopped (approximately 1 cup) (16 oz. )
  • ½ cup water (1 C )
  • 1 cup chopped pecans or walnuts (2C )
