One-Pot Sambar Sadam/Rice (Pressure Cooker/Instant Pot)
Ingredients
  • ½ cup rice
  • ¼ cup toor dal (or ½ cup cooked toor dal)
  • ¼ cup chopped carrots
  • ¼ cup chopped potatoes
  • ¼ cup cauliflower florets
  • ¼ cup chopped green beans
  • ¼ cup small onions (shallots) or sliced onions
  • 2 to 2 ½ teaspoons sambar powder (homemade or store bought)
  • 1 small lemon-sized tamarind soaked in ½ cup water (or 1 tsp tamarind paste)
  • ½ teaspoon haldi/turmeric powder
  • subheading: FOR TEMPERING/SEASONING:
  • 2 tbsp ghee/oil
  • 1 teaspoon mustard seeds
  • ½ teaspoon hing/asafetida powder
  • 1 to 2 dry red chilies
  • Few curry leaves
