Ingredients
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 pound sausage, hot, no nitrites or MSG
- 1 large onion, chopped
- 4 cloves garlic
- ¼ cup chili powder
- 1tablespoon cumin
- 8 ounce can tomato sauce
- 6 ounce can tomato paste
- 2 cups water
- 2 TEAspoons coconut sugar
- OR 2 teaspoons brown sugar
- 2 teaspoons salt
- Cayenne to taste
- Red pepper flakes to taste
Steps
- Brown beef over high heat until meat starts to release its juices.
- Add sausage and cook until meat is not noticeably pink.
- Add onions to pot and cook until soft.
- Add garlic, chili powder, and cumin. Cook until fragrant.
- Add remaining ingredients.
- Simmer for two hours, covered. Or use pressure cooker for 30 minutes. Let pressure release naturally.
