Wanda Hummel's Chocolate Cake

1½ c sugar plus 1 cup

2 TBSP soft butter

1 c. Milk

2 c floor

½ tsp salt

2 tsp baking powder

3 TBSP cocoa

2 c. Boiling water

1 cup brown sugar

Mix together sugar and butter till well creamed, then add milk. Soft dry ingredients together and add. Beat well. Pour into greased 9x13. Next mix 1 cup sugar, 1 cup brown sugar and ½ cup cocoa and sprinkle over batter. Then pour 2 cups boiling water over all in pan. Bake at 350 for 30 to 40 minutes. Turn pieces over when serving for sauce to be on top. Serve with cool whip or ice cream.
