Philly Cheesesteak Pasta Casserole
Ingredients
  • 1 pound cavatappi or penne pasta
  • 1 ½ pounds lean ground beef
  • 3 tablespoons olive oil divided
  • 1 yellow onion diced
  • 2 medium green bell peppers chopped into ½-inch pieces
  • 6 garlic cloves minced
  • ¼ to ½ teaspoon red pepper flakes
  • ¼ cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 ½ cups low sodium beef broth
  • 1 ½ cups half-and-half or evaporated milk with 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 1 tablespoon balsamic vinegar
  • 1 ½ tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • ½ tablespoon Dijon mustard
  • 1 teaspoon beef bouillon
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon dried parsley
  • ½ teaspoon dried basil
  • ½ teaspoon paprika
  • ½ cup sharp cheddar   cheese freshly shredded
  • 4 ounces provolone cheese torn into pieces
  • 4 ounces provolone cheese slices optional, for topping
