Christmas French Toast
Ingredients
  • 2 loaves of french bread
  • 8 eggs
  • 2 cups half & half
  • 1 cup of milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • ¼ teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • dash of salt
  •  
  • subheading: French Toast Topping:
  • 2 sticks of butter (½ pound)
  • 1 cup packed light brown sugar
  • 1 ¼ cup chopped pecans
  • 2 tablespoons light corn syrup
  • ½ teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • ½ teaspoons ground nutmeg
Steps
  1. Slice french bread into about 20 slices.
  2. Butter a 9x13 baking dish.
  3. Arrange slices of bread in the baking dish, slighty overlapping.
  4. Combine the next 7 ingredients in a bowl and whisk together until blended
  5. Pour evenly over the bread, spooning some of the mixture between slices.
  6. Cover with foil and refrigerate overnight
  7. Combine topping ingredients together and cover morning
  8. The next morning preheat the oven to 350.
  9. Spread the topping mixture over. the bread and bake 10 to 60 minutes.
