Bangers and Mash with Onion Gravy

  • 8 tablespoons (½ cup) unsalted butter, cubed

  • subheading: For the Bangers (Sausage):
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 8 thick sausages (pork, beef, or flavored)
