  • 4 cups organic unbleached flour
  • 1 Tbsp baking powder
  • ¾ tsp. salt (half is 3/8 or 0.375)
  • 1 Tbsp unsweetened applesauce
  • 1⅔ cup water (half is 5/6 or 0.833333, which is 2.5 of the ⅓ cup)
  1. Preheat oven to 375˚F.
  2. Add flour, baking powder, and salt to a large mixing bowl and whisk until well combined.
  3. Add applesauce and water.
  4. Use the handle of a wooden spoon to stir until most or all of the wet ingredients are absorbed.
  5. Use your hands to knead the dough until the texture is consistent.
  6. Lightly flour a pan lined with parchment paper.
  7. Lay the dough and flatten until about 1 – 1 1/2 inches thick. If thicker, it will not bake all the way through.
  8. Bake for 35 minutes or until done (25 min for half). It will have more of a biscuit texture and only brown slightly at top and bottom edges. Remove from oven and tap bottom of bread. If it sounds hollow and empty, it’s done.
