Sugar Cookies
Ingredients
  • 2 ½ cups white sugar
  • 1 ½ cups butter, softened
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 5 cups all-purpose flour
  • 3 tablespoons cinnamon powder
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
Steps
  1. Take butter out of fridge and let it soften for about 2 hours.
  2. Beat sugar and softened butter together in a large bowl with an electric mixer until smooth.
  3. Beat in eggs and vanilla.
  4. Stir in the flour, cinnamon, baking powder, and salt. Once mixed well, remove the dough from the bowl and knead the dough together. Separate into 2 to 3 pieces, cover, and chill for at least 1 hour (or overnight).
  5. Preheat the oven to 400 degrees F (200 degrees C).
  6. Lightly dust a work surface with flour. Roll out dough to ¼ to ½ inch thickness.
  7. Cut into shapes with any cookie cutter. Place cookies 1 inch apart on ungreased baking sheets.
  8. Bake in the preheated oven until cookies are lightly browned, 6 to 8 minutes. Carefully transfer cookies to a wire rack and cool completely before decorating.
