American Heart Association Recipe for Banana Bread
Ingredients
  • 1 ½ c flour
  • ½ c sugar
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ½ c wheat germ
  • 3 medium, very ripe bananas, mashed (about 1 cup)
  • ¼ c buttermilk
  • ¼ c oil
  • 4 egg whites
  •  
  • Sift together the flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda and salt. Mix in the wheat germ. Add all remaining ingredients and beat until well blended. Place in oiled 8 x 4" loaf pan. Bake at 350º for about 1 hour or until done.
  • 1 loaf = 16 slices
  • 1 slice = 130 calories
