Ingredients
  • 1 T active dry yeast
  • 1 ½ cup lukewarm water
  • 2 eggs, beaten
  • ¼ cup vegetable oil
  • 5 to 6 cups Hot Roll Mix
  • 3 tsp ground cinnamon
  • ¾ cup sugar
  • ½ cup butter, melted
Steps
  1. In a large bowl, dissolve yeast in water. Blend in eggs and oil. Add 5 cups of Hot Roll Mix. Stir well. Add more Hot Roll Mix to make a soft dough. Knead about 5 minutes, until dough is smooth. Lightly oil bowl. Put dough in bowl and turn to oil top. Cover dough with a damp towel and let rise in a warm place until doubled about 1 hour.
  2. Punch down dough. Roll dough into walnut size balls. Combine cinnamon and sugar in a bowl. Dip balls into melted butter or and roll in cinnamon-sugar mixture. Pile loosely in an ungreased tube pan. Let rise until doubled about 30 min.
  3. Preheat oven to 400°F. Bake about 10 min. Lower temperature to 350°F and continue baking 30 minutes until golden. Loosen edges with a knife and turn out onto a plate. Rolls can be plucked off one at a time. Variation: To make coffee cake, rolls balls in cinnamon sugar then in ½ cup of chopped nuts.
Notes
  • Hot Roll Mix
  • 5 lbs all-purpose flour
  • 1 ½ cups sugar
  • 2 T salt
  • 1 ½ cups instant nonfat powdered milk
  • Combine the flour, sugar, salt, and powdered milk in a lg bowl & mix with a wire whisk to combine thoroughly. Makes 22 cups.
